  • While the price of petrol has gone up by 44 per cent since 1997 under Labour, the basic state pension has only increased by 8 per cent.

Petrol has now overtaken the mortgage and food as the single most expensive item of expenditure in the household budget.  Under Labour, people are paying around £350 more per year for their petrol.
It is estimated that Labour's increased fuel taxes are equivalent to a 2p rise on the basic rate of income tax.

Threat to Farming


Fruit, vegetable and flower growers face millions of pounds worth of extra costs due to an unprecedented increase in red tape.
The National Farmers Union has highlighted increasing numbers of current and planned regulations.
It says that low prices, the weak Euro and bad weather could also threaten jobs in UK farming.
